This time we’re discussing dairy with Jona aka Yacht, pictured here right after his set at Be on 5th July bravely attempting to represent cheese for the camera.
Hi Jona, what’s your favourite cheese ?
J - Well that’s the funny thing, I don’t eat cheese.
This is just perfect. And why is that ?
J - I’m following a vegan lifestyle. I’m repelled by the way the industry of cheese works, I think humans are just no better than animals. I grew up in a farming town in Oregon and witnessed the way people treat animals. Animals get a bad deal.
My next question was going to be : Cheese Ploughmans or Ham and Cheese ? But first I had to explain Jona what a Cheese Ploughmans is, as I tend
to forget non-UK residents are not aware of this delicacy.
J - I’d go for the Cheese Ploughmans as it’s a new thing for me, and at least it doesn’t involve meat !
What’s your funniest or most special memory linked to cheese ?
J - I didn’t always use to be a vegan so I remember when I was in 4th or 5th grade, I used to come home from school everyday and have Tillamook cheese, this rectangle of cheese that tastes exactly like cheddar. It
comes from a city in Oregon of the same name. It’s a nice memory for me.
Sweet. What’s your favourite song linked to cheese or favourite cheesy song ?
J - I’ll have to say the whole album “Chocolate and cheese” by Ween. It’s an album that’s not serious but not excessively jokey either, it made me look out for the fine line between comedy and drama.
Can you pick next week’s hot topic ?
J - It has to be hot air balloons…
