Here’s a couple of pieces of pristine electro-pop that have recently dropped onto my doormat.
First up is one of London’s most exciting new talents. Fenech-Soler have moved up through the pack of electro-dance outfits emerging over the last couple of years due to a knack for genuinely good old-fashioned songwriting, coupled with all the bleeps in the right places, as they prove with ‘The Cult of Romance’. Ah it would be great to see them live again, since their last appearance @ BE was way back in December 2007… hang on, bloody heckfire they’re only playing next week!

Secondly is surely one of the most hyped tracks in the universe right now, the forthcoming single from the mighty Phoenix. An appearance on US institution Saturday Night Live last week (going out to 20 million viewers!) should help these French guitar pop geniuses to get the mainstream recognition they finally deserve. Should be stratospheric! Sold out London dates coming up at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen (April 23rd) and Koko (June 1st), and a few festival appearances over the summer too. Keep ‘em peeled.
